A stony beach, at low-tide, with an approaching shower in the distance. In a huge version I printed (which took about seven hours of darkroom experimentation to get just as I wanted) it’s possible to see a single person and their dog on the far beach, who I didn’t even know were there when I took the picture!

There’s a small amount of burning-in of some parts of this print. The sky got an extra two stops to bring out the cloud detail, and the water in the bottom-left an extra one stop, so it matches the darkened sky.

A 16in by 20in print of this photograph is so far the most expensive print I’ve sold.
